At the edge of Egmond aan den Hoef is a shopping center, a library, commercial space and 7 apartments. The various functions are housed in a compact volume under a sloping green roof. The building has two contrasting faces. On the side that is focused on the dunes a vegetation roof reacts as an artificial landscape element on the surroundings. On the other site is a transition zone of three meters between the village and the building. Behind a steel colonnade are the stairs, elevators, corridors and entrances. It is a lively transition zone between inside and outside. From various points in the building, such as the central shopping arcade, the library and the houses, there is a beautiful view of the surroundings.
